There are many different aspects in chess to be considered in chess to formulate a strategy but the most important aspects are

1.Openings: All the great games and Grand masters start with the standard openings there are many standard openings and you need to know all the variations of them to win the game at that level. The first and foremost idea of any opening is to gain control over the center of the board e4, e5, d4, d5. If you do not follow standard openings at least until the 6th or 7th move there are great chances for you to loose the game or piece in the starting itself. The openings cannot be violated if you want to become a good chess player, because they were played from hundreds of years and all the work analysis on them has mostly been done. The different openings for white and black prevail. Watch all the games of your favourite grandmaster and analyse them. Know when to trade pieces, control the center.

2.Traps and tricks: Every grandmaster knows about all the traps and tricks in each and every opening. One wrong move and a GM will penalize you for that. Knowing of different traps like fishpole trap, fischers queen trap etc and different gambits and variations like albin, slav, marshals defense etc are very much necessary. Yes you need to work on them if you are serious about chess and memorise all the variations so that you make no mistake in developing pieces. Different games and practicing with various openings will help you developing intuition and predicting moves, sacrifices. Know the points of each piece, know how can you use bishops or knights at your advantage in different game positions and endgames.

3.Proper evaluation of proper moves: Evaluation of proper moves comes with the knowledge and practice of the game. The number of games you play the better you get provided you have to play every game seriously. While playing blitz you wi8ll need intuition rather than evaluation,but proper evaluation in classical games for practice will make you get that intuition. Practice every game writing notations and analysing each and every move and trying for better moves. Practice blind fold matches, initially solve all the mate in ones mate in 2s 3s etc by memorising positions without pieces on board. Practice all the mate in 2s mate in 4s 5s on the board on only without touching the pieces.

4. Reverse Engineering: This is one of the very famous strategy grandmasters use, they trade the pieces and take the games to the end. Calculating perfect end games and trading pieces for that endgame which is favorable is the best way to win, but this kind of approach cannot be used by any one, you need lots of practice to see the endgames in between the games itself and decide how and when to trade pieces with proper calculations and sacrifices.

My sugestion is to play regularly there are many sites have an account in all of them like chess.com, lichess, chess24 etc

Watch many youtube videos of different grandmasters, my personal favorite is GM finegold. Watch out for traps and sacrifices different good pawn structures. Play and develop your ratings, solve puzzles and memorise all the openings.
